3 Easy Ways Your Ezine Can Help Keep Your Bank Account Full
© 2003 Harmony Major

I'm sure you've heard marketing experts admit that they'd be a lot less popular, making a LOT less money than they are today, if it wasn't for their lists. So why sit on the sidelines watching THEM cash out, while YOU struggle just to keep your list afloat?

Here are three easy ways your ezine can help keep YOUR bank account full, to contend with the big guns:

1. Your list becomes a near effortless way to consistently sell YOUR products.

Your readers become used to your writing style and the quality of info you provide, and by the simple act of staying subscribed to your list, they're establishing themselves as targeted, qualified prospects.

As a result, you automatically have a loyal list that anxiously awaits every launch of your own new products. You'll consistently pull the highest conversion ratio from your readership, whenever you release a new product.

I've had as high as a 12% hits-to-sales ratio for my own product announcements, and a 27.42% signup ratio to product follow-up lists from my own ezine subscribers.

Believe me when I say that selling products to an existing readership is nearly effortless and VERY rewarding.

2. Positioning as a knowledgeable expert in your field, as your recommendations will almost ALWAYS sell.

When I used to run outside ads in my ezine, readers would contact me on several occasions, just to see if an ad run in my ezine was a personal recommendation. The general consensus was that if *I* just told them a product was good, they'd hit the order form ... wallets blazing.

How's THAT for the power of endorsements?

Once you position yourself as trustworthy in your readers eyes, you can make a lot of money by recommending products to your list. Just please ... PLEASE ... never recommend a product you'd consider any less than excellent product, or your credibility can be *immediately* flushed down the tube ... forever.

I know telling a product author their work isn't good enough to recommend can be mega painful for both you AND the author. I've had to do it a lot over the years.

But I ALSO know that that's much better than losing the trust of your readership because you were too "chicken" to decline endorsing a shoddy product.

So think of your own welfare in the long run.

3. A free money-machine at your immediate disposal.

After you get past 5,000 readers or so, you'll never want for money again if you work your list right.

Whenever YOU launch a new product, announce it to your readers. Whenever you discover another author's exceptional product that's helped make you more money, increase your conversion rate, or boost your website traffic, announce it to your list ... and reap the rewards in just a few hours.

And whenever you experience a "bad patch" where your income slows to a crawl, run an exclusive discount on one of your products.

TIP: If you don't have your own products yet, offer a free bonus for buying someone else's product through *your* affiliate link. Ex: You could offer a free 30-minute consultation to everyone who buys XYZ Product from you within a week from your mailing.

Just be sure not to abuse this awesome privilege by offering more ads than content. Some publishers go overboard (in my opinion), offering as many as 3-5 solos a week, but readers respond to each offer better if you don't bombard them with announcements. I normally send no more than 12 mailings per year, if that.

TIP: Only send out *personal recommendations*, and your readers will really listen up when a special offer does come their way. If you do need to sell solos for a quick income boost, make it a TEMPORARY option. The "limited time" aspect will, in itself, increase your response.
